I went shopping recently for art supplies at my favorite place, the U of O book store. Alas, like everywhere else there was slim pickings and the place was devoid of bustling students in the middle of a week day. An all too familiar sad sign of the times.
Lunch
at the Glenwood nearby was equally empty-which I prefer. It will soon to be torn down
and replaced by an ugly apartment built by out of state developers. As I sat
sipping tea and finishing an omelet, I looked around the vintage house turned
restaurant and grieved. I reminded myself, it's still here and choose to enjoy
the present ambiance rather than give in loss. That will come later as the
memory of one last time, like so many other things gone by.
Being in the present is something we need to do more often to be aware of the now instead of dwelling in the unchangeable past and the nebulas future.
Enjoy this moment so you don't miss it.
